FALSE GREEN

ANNA NERO
May 8 - June 12, 2022
May 8, 12 - 6pm

Plain Gallery is pleased to present False Green, an exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by Frankfurt-based artist Anna Nero. The exhibition will be on view from May 8 - June 12, 2022

Nero's work deals with everyday objects as well as popular culture and design, fashion and advertisement. The life and “agency” of objects, especially mass-produced items like toys, decoration objects and knick-knacks interest her. She explores possibilities of representation and the value of the painting as a cult object, icon and artifact.

False Green refers to her practice, which is settled between the fake, superficial and the substantial.

Anna Nero (Moscow, 1988) studied painting at Art Academy Mainz and Academy of Fine Art Leipzig, where she recieved her MFA in 2015. She proceeded for a post-graduate Masterclass with Heribert C. Ottersbach until 2017. Nero's works have been recently shown in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, at Anotherplace Gallery in New York and at Art Paris Art Fair.
